Hello and welcome to my e-portfolio. My name is Tegan Fleming and I am a young, enthusiastic and passionate pre-service teacher who believes in assisting the youth of today to grow into intelligent and empowering adults. I am currently in my final year at Flinders University studying a double degree in Bachelor of Education (Primary R-7)/Bachelor of Arts (Physical Education) and have enjoyed every step of the way. Although this journey has at times been tiring and stressful, I have gained friendships that will last a life time and gained skills and knowledge to support me not only when in a classroom but for everyday life.
I have always been grateful for the education I was luckily provided with. My biggest dream is travel the world and teach students who vary in ages and nationalities to learn their language, lifestyle and to simply appreciate who they are and their journeys. I am excited to share my story with my students and peers, and I am patiently awaiting to listen to theirs and hopefully become a great part of these. In an ever changing world new doors will always open, I hope I can be a part of creating new doorways for students, family, friends and myself. I will be commencing my new teaching adventure abroad in August 2017 in Chester, United Kingdom.
I currently work within two schools located in Victor Harbor - Out of School Hours Coordinator for the past year and a half, and SSO since the commencement of Term 3 2016. Both roles have provided me with opportunities to further my understanding and knowledge for working with students and understanding how they learn. In November 2015 I volunteered in Phang Nga, Thailand to teach English within local schools and orphanage whilst I learnt Thai language and the traditions of their culture. This was a very significant time in my life and I will always cherish the memories I made and relationships I built with the community in the short period I was there.
